These are the lyrics of the song by Nine Inch Nails, pretty depressing, though. Anybody has got any clue what it refers to? Apart from the obvious pessimistic attitude... Can he be locked in prison, a reformatory, a mental asylum or a rehabilitation programme? Please, tell me what you think! Marga

The first thing that came up to my mind, was that this guy was in prison awfuly depressed,that's why he says "I think I used to have a purpose but then again that might have been a dream.I think I used to have a voice ,Now I never make a sound" 'cause when sombody is depressed you don't feel anything but at the same time you know that you are not ok,so they fall into a kind of depressive hole where everything seems to fall down. But in the song this person is writing some paper so maybe he is thinking about killing himself but at the same time he wants to make his relatives know.
